• magnification, FOV vs. image size
• f-number or numerical aperture(NA)
• wavelength range, light source
• mechanical restrictions like working distance(distance from lens to the object), total length

From 5 to 7 weeks takes to the final product for most lenses.
Search the right lens for yourself as best as you can before asking for new lens.
New lens often costs from thousands to several thousands in US dollar.
